Picture du jour: Music notation at its best
The Babe emailed this to me today. She got it from her friend Stacey, who got it from somewhere else.

Here's a new word for you!
New word of the day for you: "Rapturebombing." This is a Rapture-related photobomb. (And a photobomb, as we all know, dear ones, is having someone/something unexpected in a picture.)
These are great pix of people who've been Raptured. (Yes, it happened; didn't you notice? I guess you weren't taken, either....)
(And this is post #978, btw.)

When life hands you lemons...
This is a fine example of how a positive attitude can make your life better. I am told it's from Chicago during Snowpocalypse 2011.

Catalog Living
Last week, I posted an article about UnhappyHipsters.com. Alyssa Fox pointed out a similar (and equally funny) blog this afternoon: Catalog Living. Catalog Living is a new blog from Molly Erdman, a Los Angeles-based actor, writer, and comedian. Here's an example of what you'll find on the blog:
"After achieving his life’s work of balancing the wicker ball on the radio, Terrence carefully removed his hat and went for his final swim."
Catalog Living. Go check it out.

Great picture sites!
I have two picture sites that will help you waste lots of time. The first is ImgFave, which is a site of pictures that lots and lots of people have uploaded to share with each other. I've picked one at random that makes me feel happy, but there's anything you can think of (and lots of things you probably can't think of) to be found there.
The second site is a LiveJournal blog, RiotClitShave. It's photos collected by one user, thousands and thousands of them. They're unusual and frequently a bit dark, but most of them are thought-provoking and worth seeing. One funny one that I've saved is this one, which is living proof that you shouldn't piss off the anteater.

Steve Martin's tour demands
Steve Martin's tour demands have been "leaked." This is not real--in case the first link expires, here's a link to the demands from Steve Martin's website--but it is funny. It my be a parody of a similar set of demands for real from someone else.

Unhappy Hipsters
I stumbled across Unhappy Hipsters today, a site that combines pictures of ultra-modern houses (some of which look really good and some of which look absolutely sterile) with captions, such as these:
In 90 degree heat the climbing wall quickly turned to flypaper.
Smug doesn't even begin to cover it.
I ended up going through all of these. They're really funny.

The difference between nerds, dorks, and geeks... in a Venn diagram
This is perfect: it explains the difference between nerds, dorks, and geeks in a format that nerds, dorks, and geeks can understand. This comes from Great White Snark, which is a very funny blog for, well, nerds, dorks, and geeks.

Epic Win!
There are many sites dedicated to things not going the right way, such as LameBook, Failure Magazine, Stick Figure Death Theatre, and Stupidity, not to mention the classic Despair demotivational posters. All of these are worth reading and are very funny (particularly Stick Figure Death Theatre--try Bungee Jumping if you want a quick taste), but they're none of them very positive.
But I just bumped into the Epic Win site. Epic Win is all about people doing Really Cool Things and you get to look at it and say "Wow! That's incredibly neat!" and feel good that there are cool things being done.
Want an example or two? Try this video of fun things done to a latté:
If you don't feel like watching a video, you can admire this picture of a Snow-Totoro:
Or, you can admire the generally meta flavor of this:
(Thanks to Skye Hughes for pointing me at the Random Sunday: The Bad Parenting Edition, from which I found Epic Win.)

The consequences of gay marriage
It's good to be able to say at last with certainty what the consequences of gay marriage are. This chart outlines them neatly.

The Blessed Virgin Mary makes an ironic appearance
(Not really SFW, but very, very funny.)
The Friendly Atheist has this article about the appearance of the BVM in an ironic location. But, hell, if Jesus can appear in tortillas and mildew stains, the BVM can appear in... uh...
Be sure to read the comments, which are also very funny.
